museum books and CDs

The WA Museum has several books and CDs available on Western Australian frogs.

The Field Guide is the flagship publication and contains detailed information on all known species of WA frogs, including images, distribution maps, a guide to basic biology and detailed descriptions and keys to help readers identify frogs.

The Building Frog-friendly Gardens booklet is designed for the homeowner wishing to attract frogs to their backyard. Contains all the essential information from installing a frog pond, choosing plants, rearing tadpoles and describing the kinds of species that you’re likely to attract to your garden.

The Southwest Frog Call CD contains calls of all 30 species of frogs from the region. Recorded and narrated by Dale Roberts of the University of Western Australia over 30 years of field research, this CD will help you to identify southwest frogs by their calls. It contains one set of tracks with the species’ identity announced after the call, and a second set containing just the calls to help you improve your ability to discern the calls. Concludes with longer mixed chorus recordings from autumn, winter and spring when southwestern frogs breed.
